Gunmen attack and rob woman of $2500; one held, other on the run

Detectives attached to the Kingston Eastern policing division have arrested and charged 22-year-old Kimani Jones otherwise called ‘Kiddy’ a construction worker of Nine Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew; for multiple offences following an incident in Eight Miles, Bull Bay St Andrew on Wednesday, August 14.

Jones was charged with robbery with aggravation, using a firearm to commit a felony, wounding with Intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition on Wednesday, August 21.

Reports from the Elletston Road Police are that at about 5:30am, a woman left home for work and was pounced upon Jones and another, man armed with guns.

Police reports are that the men demanded and robbed the woman of her cellphone valued at $30,000JMD and $2800 before running off in the area.

The men were intercepted by the police along Winward Road where they challenged the lawmen, who took evasive actions and returned gunfire.

The men however, escaped on foot in the area. The were subsequently sought by the police; and Jones was captured and officially charged,  release from the police said.

A court date is being finalised for Jones. Police say they are still searching for the other man who remains on the run.
