Thirty-eight-year-old Anthony Ballentine a construction worker of Long Road, Muirton Pen, Portland, has been charged with the offence of possession of prohibited weapon following an incident on Wednesday, July 17.

Reports from the Manchioneal police are that about 7:45 am, Ballentine and a woman with whom he had an intimate relationship got into a dispute, during which he pulled a firearm from his waistband, pointed it at her, and threatened to kill her.

He then reportedly gave the woman $5,000, and instructed her to go and buy something for him.

The woman took the money reluctantly, and walked off.

Moments later, she saw a police patrol vehicle and made a report to the law enforcers.

The lawmen immediately accompanied the woman to the residence of Ballentine, where he was arrested.

He was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session was conducted with investigators.

A court date is being finalised for him.
