Kishane Thompson is the Olympic silver medalist.

Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson did not face the starter on Sunday at the Wanda Diamond League in Silesia, Poland, in what was supposed to be his first race since his narrow loss in the 100m Olympic final in Paris to the American Noah Lyles on August 4.

In his absence, US Olympic bronze medallist Fred Kerley clocked 9.87 seconds to win with a meet record. Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala was second with a time of 9.99.

Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake who made the semi-final of the Paris Olympics finished third in a personal best time of 9.89 seconds, while Rohan Powell, who like Thompson is conditioned at the University of Technology-based MVP Track and Field Club, finished seventh in 10.18 seconds.

Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion was fourth in 9.93 seconds.
