The People’s National Party’s (PNP) youth group, the Patriots, has latched on to the findings from a national poll that was recently conducted by the Don Anderson’s Market Research Services Limited, which pointed to significant shifts in voting intention among the population demographics.

In a release on the particular results of the April 2024 poll, the Patriots said “While we refrain from overly congratulatory remarks, we recognise the evolving sentiment of the Jamaican people as reflected in the numbers.”

The group cited that, “According to the poll results, the PNP has made remarkable strides, expanding its lead over the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) by a notable 7.8 per cent margin. In a mere eight-month period, the PNP’s voter intention surged by an impressive 7.3 per cent, transcending the margin of error and solidifying its position as the frontrunner in Jamaica’s political arena.”

The Patriots added that, “The increase in the People’s National Party’s margin is indicative of a growing trust in the party’s vision and plans for the future,” and contended that, “The poll results reveal a stark reality: a significant portion of the population, as indicated by the poll, feels disillusioned with the current trajectory of the country.”

In seeking to drive home its point, the Patriots further said, “Despite purported economic gains touted by Generation 2000 (the governing Jamaica Labour Party’s professional youth arm), a staggering 47 per cent of (the poll) respondents believe Jamaica is headed in the wrong direction. This sentiment underscores a profound disconnect between governmental promises and tangible progress, a gap that the PNP is poised to bridge.”

The Patriots contended that the Government has failed to deliver on its promise and mandate of economic prosperity, and said this “has resonated with voters, paving the way for a resurgence of confidence in the PNP”.

The Patriots stated its commitment to aiding the PNP in its “mission to steer Jamaica towards a path of genuine progress and prosperity,” and said its focus on empowering young professionals “aligns seamlessly with the party’s objectives, and we stand ready to contribute to the formulation of policies that cater to the aspirations of all Jamaicans.”
