Woman reportedly raped at knifepoint at now accused man’s home Loop Jamaica

Three charges have been laid against 53-year-old James Bromfield, otherwise called ‘Root’, a construction worker of Whitehall district in Negril, Westmoreland relative to an incident at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

He was charged with rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious destruction of property on Thursday, February 22.

Reports from the Savanna- la- Mar Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) are that about 5am, the woman was asleep when she was awoken by Bromfield, who demanded sex.

The woman refused and Bromfield allegedly used a knife to cut and remove her clothing, then punched her several times. He then held her down and sexually assaulted her.

The woman made a report to the police and Bromfield was arrested on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, during a targeted raid at his home. He was subsequently charged and is currently awaiting a court date.
